Our program

Linking decision makers and the public

We bring citizen input into local decision-making processes and help the Greater Kansas City region find common ground on important issues.

How it works

One KC Voice brings citizens together through a regional Citizen Engagement Network. Input techniques include community conversations, workshops, online communities, blog-based discussions and surveys. Each of our public participation processes is written and formatted specifically for individual topics.

The scale of our projects can range from the entire Kansas City region to a single municipality or neighborhood.

Guidance

The program consults with its advisory committee — which is made up of representatives from 13 regionally recognized community organizations — to identify relevant public issues, invite the public to civic participation events, connect citizen ideas to decision-making processes, and report results.

The Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) serves as the managing partner, fiscal agent and incubator for One KC Voice. Steering committees and ad hoc partnerships are organized to provide direction on specific projects or policy issues.

Funding

One KC Voice relies on grants, contracts, fees for service, donations and foundations for financial support. If you're interested in supporting One KC Voice by making a financial contribution, please contact us.
